Bill would provide personal injury liability protection for roller skating rinks

Rep. Susan Plasencia Roller skating rinks that post signs and follow “reasonable” safety precautions would be immune from personal injury liability if a South Florida lawmaker has her way. Rep. Susan Plasencia, R-Winter Park, filed HB 1129 on February 24. The measure has yet to receive committee references and there is no House companion.

House Civil Justice Subcommittee moves tort measure

Rep. Tommy Gregory The sponsor of a sweeping civil litigation reform measure told a House subcommittee Friday that he merely wants to return “equilibrium” to the system. House Judiciary Chair Tommy Gregory, R-Lakewood Ranch, said his bill is necessary to combat rising insurance rates and to repair Florida’s reputation as a “judicial hellhole.”
