A lawsuit filed by a St. Petersburg resident against the City of St. Petersburg is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 following a car accident involving a city vehicle. The complaint was filed by Matthew Webster on June 20, 2024, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in and for Pinellas County, Florida.

According to the complaint, on December 19, 2023, Matthew Webster was driving northbound on 16th Street South near 18th Avenue South when his vehicle was struck by a car operated by Brett Gerald Ciskoski, an employee or agent of the City of St. Petersburg. The vehicle driven by Ciskoski was owned and maintained by the city. Webster alleges that Ciskoski negligently operated the vehicle, leading to the collision.

Webster claims that as a result of this accident, he sustained significant bodily injuries which have caused him pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, and loss of capacity for enjoyment of life. He also states that he has incurred medical expenses and will continue to do so in the future due to these injuries. Furthermore, Webster asserts that his injuries meet or exceed the threshold requirements set forth in Section 627.737 of Florida Statutes.
