South Florida Walgreens pharmacists alleges race discrimination
MIAMI — A Black pharmacist alleges she suffered race discrimination while working for Walgreens.
Deatrick Givens filed a complaint Oct. 13 in federal court against Walgreen Co., alleging race discrimination and other claims.
According to her complaint, Givens was a pharmacist with Walgreens for more than 29 years. In August 2021, the Walgreens pharmacy she had been assigned to closed, and Givens says Walgreens delayed placing her another staff pharmacist position. She further claims the company had her floating between 10 stores more months and having to drive significant distances.
