Shopper Sues Grocery Chain Over E-Bike Incident
A shopper’s routine visit to a grocery store turned into a legal battle when an employee on an e-bike allegedly caused her injury. Jessica Lynn Dunn has filed a complaint against Winn-Dixie Stores, LLC in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, on May 6, 2025. The lawsuit claims that Dunn was injured due to negligence by the store’s staff.
According to the complaint, on November 19, 2022, Jessica Lynn Dunn was shopping at the Winn-Dixie located at 6501 102nd Ave N, Pinellas Park, FL. During her visit as a business invitee, she was struck by an employee riding an e-bike through the aisles. This incident led to her falling and sustaining injuries. Dunn accuses Winn-Dixie of failing to maintain safe premises and not taking reasonable steps to prevent foreseeable risks of injury. The lawsuit states that the company should have ensured that their employees operated in a manner that did not endanger customers’ safety. It also alleges that Winn-Dixie failed to correct or warn about potential dangers and did not adequately inspect for hazardous conditions.
Dunn is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 for bodily injury resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, lost earnings and earning capacity. She claims some injuries are permanent or continuing and will cause future impairment. Additionally, she alleges significant permanent loss of bodily function or disfigurement due to the incident.
