A resident of Palm Beach County has filed a lawsuit against a local condominium association, alleging negligence that resulted in personal injury. Mark Shanen lodged the complaint on August 1, 2024, in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County, Florida, naming South Lake II Condominium Association Inc. as the defendant.

According to the court documents, Shanen claims that on May 31, 2022, he was injured while visiting a property managed by South Lake II Condominium Association. The plaintiff alleges that he stepped on a nail while walking on the premises, which caused him significant injuries. The lawsuit asserts that this nail created an unreasonably dangerous condition and that the defendant had either actual or constructive notice of its existence but failed to address it.

The complaint further elaborates on several ways in which South Lake II Condominium Association allegedly breached its duty of care. It accuses the association of failing to maintain the premises safely, inadequately training and supervising employees to identify and repair hazards, neglecting to restrict access to dangerous areas, and not warning guests about existing dangers. Shanen argues that these failures directly led to his injuries and subsequent suffering.
