Michael Wood Jr. has filed a lawsuit against a prominent golf club, claiming negligence after suffering severe injuries due to a malfunctioning golf cart. The complaint was lodged in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on April 22, 2025, targeting Wellington National Holdings LLC, operating as Wellington National Golf Club.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on April 26, 2024, at the Wellington National Golf Club located at 400 Binks Forest Drive in Wellington, Palm Beach County. Michael Wood Jr., who was legally present on the premises as an invitee, alleges that he sustained significant injuries when the brakes of the golf cart he was driving failed. This mechanical failure led him to collide with a curb, resulting in the cart overturning and crushing his leg.

According to Wood’s complaint, Wellington National Holdings LLC had a legal obligation to ensure their premises were safe for visitors. This included maintaining all equipment in proper working order and providing warnings about any potential hazards they knew or should have known about through reasonable diligence. The plaintiff accuses the defendant of failing to inspect and maintain their fleet of golf carts adequately. Furthermore, Wood claims that the company neglected to inform patrons about any risks associated with using these vehicles despite being aware—or reasonably expected to be aware—of such dangers.
