A Florida woman has filed a lawsuit against a local grocery store, claiming negligence led to her injury. Mary Murdock lodged the complaint in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on December 26, 2024, accusing Lake Grocers, Inc. of failing to maintain safe premises.

According to the court documents, Mary Murdock was injured on June 27, 2024, when the front entrance door of Lake Grocers slammed against her foot as she entered the store located at 148 West Avenue A in Belle Glade. Murdock’s complaint alleges that Lake Grocers had a duty to keep its property safe for customers and failed to do so. The lawsuit claims that Lake Grocers neglected its responsibility by not maintaining the entrance door properly and allowing it to pose a danger to patrons like Murdock.

The complaint details several accusations against Lake Grocers, including creating hazardous conditions and failing to warn customers about them. It states that “the dangerous condition that caused the Plaintiff to get injured had been on the property long enough that the Defendant knew or under reasonable care should have known.” Furthermore, it accuses Lake Grocers of not installing or repairing safety mechanisms for the door in compliance with Florida safety standards.
