Plaintiff alleges retail giant’s negligence after injury at store
Rosalinda Cedillo has filed a lawsuit against a major retail corporation, accusing it of negligence that led to her severe injuries. The complaint was lodged in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on January 23, 2025. Cedillo claims that Costco Wholesale Corporation’s failure to maintain safe premises resulted in an accident that caused her significant harm.
According to the court documents, Rosalinda Cedillo was shopping at a Costco warehouse located at 1873 Lantana Road in Lantana, Palm Beach County, Florida, on July 12, 2022. As she attempted to place a case of water bottles into her shopping cart, she tripped over an empty water pallet left on the floor. This fall caused her to slam onto the concrete pavement with the entire case of water bottles landing on top of her. Cedillo alleges that this incident resulted in severe pain and injury and contends that she was acting with due care at the time.
Cedillo’s complaint accuses Costco of negligence for failing to maintain its premises safely and for not warning customers about potential hazards like the empty pallet. She argues that Costco had a duty to ensure customer safety by inspecting and maintaining the warehouse floors regularly and placing warning signs around dangerous conditions. The lawsuit highlights several alleged failures by Costco, including inadequate supervision of employees responsible for floor maintenance and neglecting proper inspection procedures.
