Plaintiff Alleges Retail Giant Negligence After Slip-and-Fall Incident
A slip-and-fall incident at a retail giant’s premises has led to a lawsuit that could have significant implications for customer safety standards. Genya Abugov filed a complaint against Walmart, Inc., in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 21, 2024. The case accuses Walmart of negligence leading to her injuries sustained on their property.
According to the complaint, Genya Abugov was shopping at the Walmart located at 6177 Jog Road, Lake Worth, Florida, on July 30, 2024. During her visit as a business invitee—a legal term referring to individuals invited onto premises for business purposes—she slipped and fell due to a foreign substance on the floor. Abugov claims that Walmart failed in its duty to maintain safe conditions for its customers and neglected to warn her about potential hazards. “The dangerous condition that caused the Plaintiff to get injured had been on the property long enough that the Defendant knew or should have known,” states the complaint.
Abugov alleges that Walmart breached its responsibilities by creating hazardous conditions and failing to ensure their removal promptly. She argues that these lapses directly resulted in her injuries and subsequent suffering. The lawsuit details various aspects of negligence including inadequate maintenance of store floors and insufficient monitoring systems which contributed to unsafe conditions persisting without intervention.
