Florida Power & Light Company has taken legal action against a fellow Florida corporation, alleging negligence that resulted in significant damage to its infrastructure. On April 24, 2025, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, against Transylvanian Rock Drilling, Inc.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on or around April 27, 2023. FPL claims that Transylvanian Rock Drilling’s employees or contractors began boring work at a site located at 182 East McNab Road, Pompano Beach, Florida. According to the complaint, although Transylvanian Rock Drilling submitted a ticket for underground facility location at a nearby site, they failed to do so for the actual work site. This oversight allegedly led to their workers striking and damaging FPL’s underground fiber optics communication line.

FPL asserts that Transylvanian Rock Drilling had a duty to inspect and verify whether any facilities were present underground before commencing work. They also had an obligation to ensure all operations were conducted safely and prudently, adhering to Chapter 556 of the Florida Statutes. The complaint accuses Transylvanian Rock Drilling of breaching these duties by failing to conduct necessary inspections and allowing their team to work without proper identification of FPL’s facilities.
