Plaintiff alleges negligence against Walmart following slip-and-fall incident
Beatriz Osorio, a shopper in Palm Beach County, Florida, has filed a lawsuit against retail giant Walmart after suffering injuries from a slip and fall incident at one of their stores. The complaint was officially filed on February 18, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County. Osorio is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 from Walmart, alleging negligence on the part of the store.
The incident occurred on November 12, 2023, when Osorio was shopping at the Walmart located on State Road 60 in Lake Whales, Florida. According to the complaint, as she navigated through the aisles, she unexpectedly slipped and fell due to a large amount of poultry liquid that had accumulated on the floor. This hazardous condition led to her striking her left knee against the ground. The lawsuit claims that Walmart failed to maintain safe premises by allowing such dangerous conditions to exist without adequate warning or preventive measures.
Osorio’s legal team argues that Walmart breached its duty of care by not ensuring a safe environment for its customers. The complaint outlines several failures by Walmart and its employees: they allegedly did not clean up or warn about the slippery poultry liquid; they neglected to use reasonable care in maintaining safe premises; and they failed to conduct proper inspections or place warning signs around hazardous areas. These oversights are claimed to have directly contributed to Osorio’s injuries.
