Plaintiff Alleges Negligence Against Landlord Over Mold Infestation
A Pinellas County resident has filed a lawsuit against her landlord, alleging severe negligence that led to significant health issues and property damage. Rebecca Evans lodged the complaint in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial County in Pinellas County, Florida, on July 29, 2024, targeting Largo Dental Building LLC for failing to maintain her workplace adequately.
The case revolves around claims of water intrusion and microbial contamination at Evans’ workplace managed by Largo Dental Building LLC. According to the complaint, Evans began noticing mold within the premises as early as February 2024. Despite repeated notifications to the defendant about these hazardous conditions, no adequate remediation was performed. The plaintiff asserts that the defendant’s negligent maintenance resulted in elevated moisture levels and harmful microbial growth, including fungi, molds, and bacteria.
Evans’ lawsuit details how this neglect led to adverse health effects due to prolonged exposure to toxic mold. “Plaintiff suffered and likely will continue to suffer adverse health consequences after harmful contact with microbes,” reads one part of the filing. The plaintiff claims that these conditions were exacerbated by Largo Dental Building LLC’s failure to perform timely repairs or professional remediation.
