A dog attack has sparked a legal battle in Palm Beach County, Florida, as a resident seeks justice for injuries sustained during the incident. On December 27, 2024, Michael Ore filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit against Gigi Mittman, alleging that her dog attacked him without provocation.

The case revolves around an unfortunate event on June 13, 2024, when Michael Ore was walking in his neighborhood and was suddenly attacked by Alvin, an Australian Shepherd/Pitbull mix owned by Gigi Mittman. According to the complaint, the dog bit Ore’s right foot and caused him to fall backward onto concrete pavement. While on the ground, Ore claims he was bitten again by Alvin. The injuries were severe enough to require immediate medical attention.

Ore’s lawsuit is based on two main legal theories: strict liability under Florida’s Dog Bite Statute (§ 767.04) and negligence. Under the strict liability claim, Ore argues that Mittman is responsible for any damages caused by her dog’s bite as per state law. He asserts that as a direct result of the attack, he suffered significant physical and emotional harm including disability and disfigurement.
