Plaintiff accuses Trinity Christian Academy of Negligent Supervision
Karen Susan Bustamante has filed a lawsuit against Trinity Christian Academy, alleging negligence that led to her daughter, Y.B., suffering severe bullying and harassment at the school. The complaint was filed on December 30, 2024, in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida. The plaintiff claims that Trinity Christian Academy failed to protect her daughter from emotional and physical harm caused by other students.
According to the lawsuit, Karen Susan Bustamante is suing both as an individual and as the parent and natural guardian of her minor daughter, Y.B. She alleges that from December 2023 through May 2024, Y.B. was subjected to persistent taunting, bullying, and harassment by fellow students at Trinity Christian Academy. The plaintiff asserts that this behavior resulted in serious injuries to Y.B., both physically and emotionally. Bustamante contends that the school’s employees, including teachers and administrators, were negligent in their duty to supervise students adequately and ensure a safe learning environment.
The complaint outlines several specific failures on the part of Trinity Christian Academy. These include not properly instructing teachers on supervising children under their care, failing to maintain an appropriate student-teacher ratio for effective supervision, neglecting to provide a safe learning environment free from bullying and harassment, and not taking action despite being aware of previous incidents involving Y.B. The plaintiff argues that these lapses directly contributed to her daughter’s suffering.
