Plaintiff accuses marijuana distributors of violating civil RICO laws
CCT Sciences, LLC has filed a lawsuit accusing two companies of engaging in illegal activities involving the sale and distribution of controlled substances. The complaint was filed on December 16, 2024, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, against Mellow Fellow Fun, LLC and Arvida Labs LLC.
The case revolves around allegations that Mellow Fellow Fun and Arvida Labs are involved in the unlawful manufacture, sale, and possession of controlled substances. CCT Sciences claims that these companies have been selling Delta 8-THC and Delta 9-THC products derived from hemp but exceeding legal THC limits as defined by both federal and state laws. According to CCT Sciences, these actions constitute a violation of Florida’s Civil Remedies for Criminal Practices Act. The plaintiff asserts that the defendants are engaged in a pattern of criminal activity through an enterprise involving fraudulent advertising and misrepresentation of their products’ legality.
CCT Sciences further alleges that Mellow Fellow Fun and Arvida Labs have been falsifying lab results to present their products as compliant with legal standards when they are not. The plaintiff conducted independent testing on some of the defendants’ products, such as “Blue Dream” and “Wedding Cake,” which reportedly contained THC levels far exceeding the legal limit. CCT Sciences argues that this deceptive practice gives the defendants an unfair competitive advantage over legally compliant businesses like themselves.
