Patron sues local bar over negligence leading to injury
A Florida resident has filed a lawsuit against a local bar, alleging negligence after suffering injuries from a fall on the premises. Ronald Jackson initiated legal action against Mastry’s Bar, Inc., in the Circuit Court of the 6th Judicial Circuit for Pinellas County, Florida, on December 24, 2024. The complaint accuses Mastry’s Bar of failing to maintain safe conditions, leading to Jackson’s accident.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on March 27, 2023, when Jackson tripped and fell due to improperly maintained stairs at Mastry’s Bar located at 233 Central Ave in St. Petersburg. The plaintiff claims that he was lawfully present as a business invitee and asserts that the bar had a non-delegable duty to ensure the safety of its premises. The lawsuit details several allegations against Mastry’s Bar, including negligent maintenance of the stairs, failure to inspect and warn about dangerous conditions, and inadequate staff training regarding safety protocols.
Jackson’s attorney argues that Mastry’s Bar breached its duties by not adequately maintaining or inspecting the stairs and failing to warn patrons of potential hazards. The complaint states: “Defendant knew or should have known that said improperly maintained stairs were unreasonably dangerous.” It further accuses the bar of neglecting corporate policies related to safety and engaging in unsafe operational practices.
