Nursing Home Accused Of Neglect Leading To Resident’s Death
A personal representative of a deceased estate has filed a lawsuit against a nursing home, alleging severe neglect and violation of resident rights. Kurt Patrizi, representing the estate of Marjorie Patrizi, filed the complaint in the Circuit Court of Pinellas County, Florida on July 5, 2024, against Palm Garden of Pinellas, LLC.
The lawsuit claims that during her residency at Palm Garden of Pinellas, Marjorie Patrizi suffered from inadequate care which led to infections and sepsis. According to the complaint, Marjorie was an elderly resident suffering from age-related infirmities and was unable to adequately care for herself. The plaintiff alleges that the nursing home staff failed to develop an adequate care plan and did not properly monitor or supervise her treatment. As a result, Marjorie developed severe infections that deteriorated into sepsis, ultimately leading to her death on February 18, 2024.
Kurt Patrizi asserts that Palm Garden of Pinellas violated several provisions under Chapter 400 of Florida Statutes which set standards for operating nursing homes. The complaint details multiple failures by the defendant including not providing appropriate healthcare and protective services, failing to prevent mental and physical abuse, and not complying with regulations for operating nursing homes as outlined by the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services.
