Hotel Guest Sues Prominent West Palm Beach Hotel Over Alleged Negligence
A recent court filing has brought to light a significant negligence case involving a prominent hotel in West Palm Beach. On June 11, 2024, Deanne Katsaros filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, against WS BPB Owner LLC, doing business as The Ben West Palm Beach, and an unnamed hotel manager referred to as John Doe.
According to the complaint, on February 23, 2021, Deanne Katsaros visited The Ben West Palm Beach as a guest. During her stay, she alleges that she was injured due to a broken patio furniture table in her hotel room. Katsaros claims that the defendants failed to maintain the premises safely and neglected their duty to warn her of any dangerous conditions. “The defendant owed Plaintiff duties to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition and to warn Plaintiff of dangerous conditions on their premises,” states the complaint.
Katsaros accuses WS BPB Owner LLC of multiple counts of negligence. She asserts that the company did not adequately inspect or maintain the patio furniture table, creating an unreasonably dangerous condition. The lawsuit details various ways in which the hotel allegedly failed its responsibilities: “Negligently failing to maintain or adequately maintain the hotel room patio furniture table… Negligently failing to inspect or adequately inspect… Negligently failing to correct and/or replace the unreasonably dangerous condition.” These failures purportedly led to Katsaros suffering bodily injury resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, permanent scarring, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, and loss of earnings.
