A lawsuit has been filed against a renowned children’s hospital following an unfortunate incident that left the plaintiff with severe injuries. Felicia Hurst initiated the legal proceedings against Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, Inc., filing her complaint on December 9, 2024, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida.

The case centers around an incident that occurred on July 21, 2023, when Felicia Hurst was visiting Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. According to the complaint, Hurst was an invitee at the hospital when she slipped on a “Croc Charm” – a small shoe accessory – that was negligently left on the floor. This slip resulted in a fall causing her severe and permanent injuries. The lawsuit accuses Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital of negligence and premises liability for failing to maintain a safe environment for its visitors.

Hurst’s complaint outlines several allegations against the hospital. It asserts that Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital had a duty to ensure that their premises were safe for invitees like Hurst but failed to uphold this responsibility. The document states: “Defendant… maintained the aforementioned Premises including, but not limited to, the floor and corresponding accommodations in such a manner as the area became, and/or caused, a hazard to Plaintiff.” The plaintiff claims that there was no warning about the dangerous condition posed by the Croc Charm on the floor and alleges that reasonable inspection procedures were not followed by the hospital staff.
