Three transactions completed by Holland & Knight attorneys were named “Deals of the Year” at this year’s USA M&A Atlas Awards, hosted by the Global M&A Network. The M&A Atlas Awards recognize the achievements of influential dealmakers and leaders, outstanding firms and the best growth-delivering transactions of the year. The awards ceremony was held on January 30 in Washington, D.C.

The acquisition of Squaremouth, a leading provider of travel insurance products and services, by Specialty Program Group (SPG), a leading operator of specialty insurance brokerages and underwriting facilities and subsidiary of HUB International, was named USA Deal of the Year – Lower Middle Markets. Holland & Knight’s representation of SPG was led by Partner Morley Fortier.

Another Holland & Knight representation was named USA Deal of the Year – Large Market. A team led by Partners Ram Sunkara, Trevor Ruff and Paul Hogan represented Energy Power Partners Fund I LP, a private market fund manager making long-term equity investments in U.S. and Canadian renewable energy, in its $1.1 billion sale of renewable natural gas assets to NextEra Energy Resources LLC, the world’s largest producer of wind and solar energy and a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Inc. (NYSE: NEE).
