Florida Roller Skating Rink Accused of Negligence After Guest Injury
In a recent legal filing, a Florida resident has brought forth serious allegations against a local business, claiming negligence led to significant personal injuries. Kelsey Lewis filed the complaint on May 9, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, targeting Astro Skate Pinellas Park LLC as the defendant.
The case centers around an incident that occurred on June 29, 2024, at Astro Skate’s roller skating rink located at 10001 66th St. N., Pinellas Park. According to the complaint, Lewis was visiting the establishment as a paying customer when she was provided with faulty roller skates. The skates allegedly malfunctioned due to improper maintenance—a bolt came off and the stopper fell apart—causing Lewis to fall and sustain injuries. The plaintiff accuses Astro Skate of failing to uphold their duty of care by not maintaining safe equipment for their guests and not warning them about potential dangers. “Defendant knew or should have known of the unsafe condition,” asserts Lewis in her complaint.
Lewis claims that Astro Skate breached its duty by negligently failing to inspect or repair the roller skates before offering them for use. The lawsuit outlines several specific failures: inadequate maintenance checks, insufficient warnings about equipment safety, and failure to correct known hazards in a timely manner. As a result of these alleged oversights, Lewis suffered bodily harm that required medical treatment and led to ongoing physical and mental pain. She also reports experiencing permanent injury, loss of enjoyment of life, reduced earning capacity, disability, scarring, disfigurement, mental anguish, and inconvenience.
