Florida Resident Sues Telecommunications Giant Spectrum Over Negligence Incident
In a dramatic legal showdown, a Florida resident has taken on a major telecommunications company over an alleged negligence incident that resulted in personal injury. Joseph Maddelin filed a complaint against Charter Communications, Inc., doing business as Spectrum, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, on October 24, 2024.
The lawsuit stems from an incident that occurred on September 27, 2023. Maddelin claims he was walking in his yard when he tripped over an unburied cable wire installed by Spectrum at his residence located at 6060 % 72nd Ave. N., Pinellas Park, FL. According to the complaint, Spectrum was responsible for maintaining and installing cables in the area and allegedly failed to do so safely. The plaintiff accuses Spectrum of negligence for leaving the cable above ground, creating what he describes as “an unreasonably dangerous condition.”
Maddelin’s allegations are detailed in several points within the complaint. He asserts that Spectrum neglected its duty to exercise reasonable care by failing to properly install or maintain the cable wire. Furthermore, Maddelin argues that Spectrum did not adequately inspect or warn him about the potential hazard posed by the unburied cable wire. The plaintiff claims this oversight led to significant personal injuries resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, permanent scarring, mental anguish, and other damages.
