A Florida resident has filed a lawsuit seeking damages exceeding $50,000 after a severe injury on private property. Julie Calder filed the complaint in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on August 20, 2024, against Heins Soren.

According to the complaint, Julie Calder, who resides in Boca Raton, was lawfully on the premises located at 20797 Del Luna Drive in Boca Raton on December 23, 2021. Calder had just completed delivering pizza when she tripped over decorations placed around the front steps of the property. The fall caused a wire from one of the decorations to become entangled inside her pant leg and slice her leg open, resulting in serious and permanent physical injury.

The defendant, Heins Soren, is alleged to have owned or held a mortgage or other lien documentation on the property where Calder was injured. The plaintiff asserts that Soren had a duty to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition and to warn of any dangerous conditions. “Defendant failed to maintain the subject premises in a reasonably safe condition by providing Plaintiff with an area that was unfit and unsafe for Plaintiff to traverse,” states the complaint.
