Farmer Couple Alleges Negligence Against Advanced Cardiovascular Consultants Following Stroke
In a gripping legal battle that underscores the critical importance of medical diligence, a couple has taken their grievances to court following a life-altering health crisis. John G. Farmer and Sandra Farmer have filed a lawsuit against Advanced Cardiovascular Consultants LLC and its associated medical professionals, alleging negligence that led to Mr. Farmer suffering a debilitating stroke. The complaint was officially lodged in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 26, 2024.
The plaintiffs, John and Sandra Farmer, accuse Advanced Cardiovascular Consultants LLC, along with Dr. Jyoti B. Mohanty, APRN Richard M. Estrella, and APRN Niki J. Patel of failing to meet the expected standards of care in managing Mr. Farmer’s cardiovascular health. According to the complaint, Mr. Farmer had been under the care of these defendants since March 2020 for various health issues including hypertension and atrial fibrillation—conditions that necessitate careful management due to their potential to cause strokes.
The Farmers allege that despite being aware of Mr. Farmer’s high risk for thromboembolic events—a type of stroke caused by blood clots—the defendants failed to ensure he was adequately anticoagulated after his mitral valve repair surgery in February 2022. They claim this oversight directly led to Mr. Farmer suffering an acute ischemic stroke on April 25, 2023, while vacationing in the Bahamas.
