A woman is suing a major supermarket chain for negligence after slipping and falling on their premises, leading to severe injuries. Terusa Gray filed the complaint against Publix Super Markets, Inc. in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on June 28, 2024.

According to the court documents, Gray was at the Publix store located at 6330 W Indiantown Rd, Jupiter, FL on May 24, 2023. She claims that while she was lawfully on the premises for purposes related to shopping, she slipped and fell due to wet and slippery conditions inside the store. The lawsuit alleges that Publix failed in multiple ways to ensure a safe environment for its customers. Specifically, Gray’s complaint lists numerous breaches of duty by Publix including failing to implement adequate policies and procedures for identifying and correcting dangerous conditions such as wet floors.

Gray asserts that Publix did not train its employees adequately to recognize and address these hazards. The complaint states: “Negligently failing to devise and/or implement any policies and procedures or adequate policies and procedures for purposes of identifying and correcting any dangerous condition(s) on the subject premises.” Furthermore, it alleges that Publix failed to place warning signs or cones around the wet areas which could have prevented her fall.
