Couple Sues Vacation Resorts Over Negligence Leading to Severe Injuries
In a compelling legal battle, a couple is seeking justice after a vacation gone awry led to severe injuries. On May 7, 2025, Adrienne Terrill and Robert Walter filed a lawsuit in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida against Bluegreen Vacations Corporation and several associated hotel companies. The plaintiffs allege negligence on the part of these entities after an incident at Tradewinds Resort in St. Pete Beach left Adrienne Terrill with serious injuries.
The complaint outlines that on May 17, 2023, Adrienne Terrill and her husband were guests at the Tradewinds Resort when a pull-out bed collapsed unexpectedly. As Robert Walter sat on the bed, it gave way without warning, causing significant injury to Adrienne Terrill’s foot. The plaintiffs assert that this incident was due to the defendants’ failure to maintain safe conditions within their premises. They claim that Bluegreen Vacations Corporation and its affiliates—Davidson Hotel Company LLC, 1754 Properties LLC, Highgate Hotels LP, Highgate Hotels GP LLC, and 1754 St. Pete Beach GP LLC—negligently managed and inspected the room where the accident occurred.
According to the filing, each defendant had a nondelegable duty to ensure the safety of their premises but failed in various ways. The allegations include allowing hazardous conditions by not maintaining or inspecting the pull-out bed properly and failing to warn guests about potential dangers. As stated in the document: “Defendant…acted negligently and carelessly…by allowing the pull-out bed and its support structure/frame to collapse.” This negligence allegedly resulted in permanent bodily injuries for Adrienne Terrill, including pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses both past and future, loss of enjoyment of life, disfigurement, as well as lost wages.
