A business invitee suffered serious injuries when a sofa flipped over in a building lobby, leading to a lawsuit against the property management. Sherrie Jennewein filed the complaint on August 29, 2024, in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, against Wellington Reserve Office Park – Building B Condominium Association, Inc.

According to the complaint, on July 26, 2021, Sherrie Jennewein was visiting Wellington Reserve Office Park located at 1037 South State Road 7 in Wellington, Palm Beach County. While seated on a sofa in the building’s lobby, the furniture unexpectedly flipped over, causing her to fall and sustain severe injuries. The lawsuit claims that Wellington Reserve Office Park – Building B Condominium Association owned and managed the premises and had a duty to ensure its safety.

The plaintiff alleges that the defendant failed in multiple ways: by not maintaining the premises safely, neglecting to inspect or repair the sofas in the lobby, allowing them to become structurally deficient and unsafe for use. The complaint also accuses Wellington Reserve of creating and failing to address a concealed dangerous condition within a reasonable time frame and not warning Jennewein or others about these hazards.
