Astro Skating Center accused of negligence after patron’s serious injury
A serious incident at a popular skating rink has led to a legal battle over alleged negligence. Kathiana G. Desrosiers filed a complaint against Astro Skating Center of Palm Beach County, LLC, in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on February 6, 2025. The lawsuit stems from an accident that occurred on May 25, 2024, when Desrosiers was injured while skating at the facility.
According to the complaint, Desrosiers claims that she suffered severe and permanent injuries due to inadequate supervision at the Astro Skating Center. The lawsuit alleges that the skating center failed to provide reasonable oversight of its premises, which resulted in unsupervised children skating recklessly and colliding with Desrosiers. The plaintiff asserts that this lack of supervision created a dangerous condition that led directly to her fall and subsequent injuries.
Desrosiers’ legal team argues that Astro Skating Center breached its duty of care by not conducting routine inspections or providing warnings about potential hazards on the rink. “Defendant created a dangerous and defective condition at the premises,” states the complaint, emphasizing the failure to supervise properly and ensure safety for all guests. The plaintiff contends that such negligence has caused her ongoing pain and physical handicap, requiring medical treatment for injuries deemed permanent or continuing.
