Rep. Geraldine Thompson has been “dilatory” in her challenge to Gov. Ron DeSantis’s appointment of 15th Circuit Judge Renatha Francis to the Supreme Court and seeks an unconstitutional remedy, according to the governor’s latest filing in the case.

Thompson, in her response, said the governor is raising “bizarre” and “untenable” arguments. She again asked the Supreme Court to order DeSantis to select another candidate for the seat from a list of finalists submitted in January by the Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission.

The filings — DeSantis’s just before midnight on September 9 and Thompson’s late the following afternoon — were in response to the Supreme Court’s September 8 show cause order to the governor on why the court should not grant Thompson’s amended petition and order the selection of someone besides Francis.
