In its landmark Bar Integration Opinion issued on June 7, 1949, the Florida Supreme Court, speaking through Justice Glenn Terrell, stated:

“In the states where bar integration has been adopted, its [the bar’s] major energies are directed to projects designed to improve the administration of justice, projects that awaken an interest in the science of jurisprudence, that stimulate professional interest, and that give the bar a just concept of its relation to the public.”

Since the promulgation of the Integration Rule on March 7, 1950, The Florida Bar has worked to fulfill that vision — dedicating its efforts to initiatives that elevate the profession, serve and protect the public, and strengthen the justice system.
