Supreme Court amends criminal rule to limit child victim depositions
The Florida Supreme Court has revised a criminal procedure rule after lawmakers agreed to limit the depositions of child victims of alleged sexual offenses.
Acting on its own motion September 4, the Supreme Court adopted amendments to Rule of Criminal Procedure 3.220 (Discovery).
The revisions follow the Legislature’s near unanimous approval of HB 667 by Rep. Taylor Yarkosky, a Clermont business owner. Gov. Ron DeSantis signed it May 25, 2023. It took effect July 1 of that year.
