Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed John Stargel and Suzanne Labrit to the Second District Court of Appeal July 29, which encompasses the Sixth, 10th, 12th, 13th, and 20th circuits.

Stargel, of Lakeland, has been a judge of the 10th Circuit since 2006. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tampa and his law degree from the Florida State University College of Law. Stargel fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Samuel Salario, Jr.

Labrit, of Tampa, has been a partner at Shutts & Bowen since 2003. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and her law degree from Nova Southeastern University Law Center. Labrit fills the vacancy created by the confirmation of Judge John Badalamenti to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
