More than 50 lawyers, law students, and judges along with voluntary bars, a law dean, a law professor, and others participated in Dade Legal Aid: Put Something Back’s annual pro bono project, “Speeding Lawfully.”
The October 25 socially distanced spin bike challenge used a computer app to allow participants to compete when and where convenient for them. The proceeds support Dade Legal Aid’s pro bono programs that help provide lawyers for family law, domestic violence, probate, guardian ad litem, child advocacy, bankruptcy, housing, and consumer law clients.
“While we pivoted to a virtual platform due to the global pandemic, the event raised awareness of the growing need for legal services for low income children and families impacted by COVID-19. Dade Legal Aid and Put Something Back Pro Bono Project provide critical access to justice to marginalized low-income residents of Miami-Dade County,” said Jamie Vining, chair of the event and chair of the Dade County Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Committee.
