A bill that would restrict fees for attorneys representing residential and commercial property owners with damage claims and seeks to have those fees and related costs reported to the state was taken up in the Senate Rules Committee on March 18.
The committee rejected several amendments – all from Democratic senators – that would have weakened some provisions, took public testimony, and began debate when it ran out of time. Chair Sen. Kathleen Passidomo, R-Naples, said consideration of SB 76 will resume when the committee meets again on March 25.
