Navigation Senate passes bill to notify victims of their right to private counsel

The Senate has approved an expanded version of a measure that would notify victims of their right to counsel and encourage The Florida Bar to develop a registry of pro bono attorneys willing to represent them.
The Senate on February 23 voted 17-0 to approve SB 1012 by Sen. Danny Burgess, R- Zephyrhills. It is now on the House calendar with a companion measure, HB 697, by Rep. Colleen Burton, R-Lakeland.
