It’s only preliminary in initial budgets that are almost guaranteed to change but Florida courts got some good news from legislative spending plans for the 2021-22 budget year.

The Senate fiscal framework, announced March 24 by Sen. Keith Perry, R-Gainesville, chair of the Senate Criminal and Civil Justice Appropriations Subcommittee, includes:

$50 million for design and construction of a new courthouse for the Second District Court of Appeal, which has been a Supreme Court priority for several years.
