The Rules of General Practice and Judicial Administration Committee is scheduled, when it meets June 23 at the Annual Convention, to weigh proposed amendments to Rule 2.140 (Amending Rules of Court).

The proposed amendments were prompted by a Bar consultant’s recent recommendations for streamlining what critics complain is a glacial rule development process.

Orange County Judge Steve Jewett, the outgoing RGPJA chair, said his committee is one the hardest working and most dedicated panels he has ever worked with. He doesn’t necessarily agree with people who criticize the pace of rule development, but thinks the report was well timed and performed a valuable service.
