Agreeing with law enforcement and other critics, lawmakers declined this year to pass a measure that would have given prosecutors the ability to request a resentencing at any time.

SB 662 by Sen. Jeff Brandes, R-St. Petersburg, passed the Judiciary Committee, which he chairs, 11-0 on March 2. Dotie Joseph, D-Miami, failed to receive a hearing.
