An extensive effort to modernize and rewrite Florida’s guardianship laws has been approved and adopted as a legislative position by the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section.

The section’s Executive Council endorsed the efforts of the Ad Hoc Guardianship Law Revision Committee at its August 22 meeting. The committee has been working since 2012 and discussions started a couple years earlier.

The difficulty of the undertaking — and getting it passed into law — was underscored by Palm Beach County Clerk of Court Sharon Bock, who praised the section’s effort but said she has questions about the final product.
