Lawyers and complainants in Florida Bar discipline proceedings would be limited to a single, 10-day extension — absent unusual circumstances — under a new Florida Bar policy.

The Board of Governors, at a May meeting in Key West, approved the proposed amendment to Standing Board Policy 15.56 (Case Processing Goals).

It’s not unusual for a respondent, and sometimes a complainant, to request an extension during the pendency of a disciplinary case, according to a staff analysis.
