Property insurance package clears two Senate panels and is ready for floor action
Sen. Jim Boyd
Florida lawmakers on Monday began debating property insurance reforms that would eliminate Florida’s one-way attorney fee provision — and make another $1 billion in taxpayer money available for discounted reinsurance, or backup insurance, for private companies.
The Senate Banking and Insurance Committee voted 9-3 to approve SB 2A by Sen Jim Boyd, R-Bradenton. After clearing the Senate Fiscal Policy Committee 15-5 early Tuesday evening, the measure was ready for the Senate floor.
