Bar members are being asked for their input on a proposal that would require them to file email addresses used for e-service of court documents with the Bar instead of the court’s system statewide e-filing portal.

The Florida Courts Technology Commission’s Service Email Address Workgroup is studying problems related to attorneys being able to have multiple email addresses for service on file with the portal.

Rule of General Practice and Judicial Administration 2.516(b)(1)(A) allows lawyers to set up to three email addresses for e-service for each of their pending cases. For busy lawyers, and law firms, that could mean dozens or even hundreds of different email addresses on file with the portal and in clerks of court case management systems.
