As the drug overdose epidemic continues to worsen in the United States, the Office of the State Courts Administrator and the Florida Courts Opioid & Stimulants Response will host a virtual training event designed to equip courts and justice system partners with information on the epidemic and tools for combating it.

“The 2023 Champion’s Summit” is a series of virtual events each Friday in September.

The opioid epidemic has reached a critical mass. Nationally, the number of overdose deaths grew by more than 15% in 2021 and Florida stood at the heart of the crisis. The Florida Medical Examiners Commission says Florida saw a 10% increase in deaths from an accidental drug overdose from 7,525 in 2020 to 8,257 in 2021.
