With pandemic infection rates declining and jury trials resuming, Chief Justice Charles Canady has ordered chief judges to create a formal process for excusing potential jurors.
The October 2 revision is one of several technical changes the chief justice made in his latest update to the statewide emergency order related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Section III C, Juror Excusals and Postponements, states, “For purposes of limiting in-person contact to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and addressing hardships related to the pandemic, each chief judge of a judicial circuit shall create a process,” for granting excusals and postponements.
