Measure would require two-thirds vote to amend the constitution
Sen. Ana Maria Rodriguez
In addition to abolishing the Constitution Revision Commission, lawmakers are considering erecting another barrier to amending Florida’s founding document.
Sen. Ana Maria Rodriquez, R-Doral, filed SJR 1238 on February 18. It would raise the threshold for ballot measures to succeed from the current 60% to a two-thirds majority. Rep. Rick Roth, R-Palm Beach Gardens, filed HRJ 61, an identical companion, December 10.
