Two Democratic lawmakers are proposing a constitutional amendment that would ban “involuntary servitude.”
Sen. Bobby Powell of West Palm Beach filed SJR 392 on October 1. Rep. Dianne Hart of Tampa filed a companion, HJR 39, on August 13. The House version faces hearings in the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Subcommittee and Judiciary. The Senate version has yet to receive committee references.
