The fate of a Sixth District Court of Appeal, recommended by the Supreme Court to promote “public trust and confidence in the judiciary,” now rests in the hands of House and Senate negotiators.

The Senate voted 39-0 on February 17 to begin a formal conference. A day before, the House voted 87-27 to approve a competing proposal, HB 2027, by Rep. Tommy Gregory, R-Valrico.
