Navigation Lawmaker pushes for tenfold increase in sovereign immunity caps

After failing last year to double “sovereign immunity” caps that limit recovery for victims of government negligence, the House sponsor is back with a bolder plan — a tenfold increase.
The House Budget Committee on Thursday voted 25 to 3 to approve HB 301 by Republican Rep. Fiona McFarland, a Sarasota business owner and Navy veteran.
