A veteran lawmaker is proposing an AI council that would promote the technology and monitor its threat to the “liberty, finances, livelihood, and privacy” of Florida citizens.

Sen. Joe Gruters, R-Sarasota, filed SB 972 on December 15. There is no House companion, and the bill has yet to receive committee references.

The measure would create an “Artificial Intelligence Advisory Council” within the state Division of Management Services.
