Lawyers across Florida are being warned about a resurgence of the old cashier’s check scam, with recent reports indicating that arbitrators are the latest targets.

Shanell Schuyler, director of the Attorney Consumer Assistance Program (ACAP) and Intake Department of The Florida Bar, emphasizes the importance of vigilance as this scheme re-emerges.

The Florida Bar has received accounts from two separate Bar members who were engaged as arbitrators after being approached by what they believed were legitimate clients, only to discover they were victims of con artists.
